The Best Time to Be Alive?
Waterfall and your anxiety
I saw this on Reddit.

Everyone says it's the best time to be alive. But I bet you every generation said the same thing.
Why? Because things move forward, that's why.
Let's take my dad. The man didn't have TV growing up. Had to travel by ship for days to reach Dubai from India. Now it's a 4-hour flight, tops.
For him, each "first" was mind-blowing:
First TV
First car
First flight
First landline phone
First cordless phone
Each time thinking "This must be the peak."
We're doing the same thing: Internet, mobile devices, streaming, driverless cars, AI, dreams of Mars—surely THIS must be the best time, right?
Well, best for us. Every generation will have their "best."
But then I look at Duncan's quote again:
Some poor, phoneless fool is probably sitting next to a waterfall somewhere totally unaware of how angry and scared he's supposed to be.
Oof.
Let's ask ourselves again: Is it our "best" time?
With this constant barrage of fuckery and fakery hitting us smack in the face, creating turmoil and anguish we can't quite place—are we really living in the "best" time?
Maybe that person by the waterfall knows something we don't.
Or maybe he doesn't.
He's probably just living his best life.
